We had a wonderful surprise last night in the paper - The 25th anniversary edition of the NIE ad supplement.  I started to read the articles, they were unique, interesting and very well written…in plain but good English. As I continued, I thought about the accomplishment of each of the young contributors. The ads were good, the articles were very good and then I noticed the beautiful pictures. Thank you all. A big thank you to the students, the teachers, the Lancaster Newspaper staff and to the advertisers who support your efforts.  Sharon Susa, Denver, Pennsylvania

Kathleen Geltz, a teacher at John Henry Neff Elementary School, is the NIE liaison between the Lancaster Lebanon Reading Council and NIE. She dedicates her free time to coordinating preliminary and final judges for the NIE Week Journalism competition and assisting in the NIE Week's winners reception. Kathy considers NIE Week to be a great opportunity for young writers. "Through NIE, young writers have the chance to share their talent and get published. Seeing the joy on the winners' faces at the NIE Week's winners reception makes the effort all worthwhile," Geltz said about NIE Week.

Nancy Barton, Director of Education at the Milagro House Education Center  and her students used the NIE Constitution Day videos in her classroom with great results.  Nancy wrote:

"I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved in the production of the Constitution Day videos. I teach the GED/Enrichment classes at Milagro House where I attempt to give my students a basic background about American History. Your video has helped all of us in that it is another reinforcement of what we have been discussing recently relative to the US Constitution and our guaranteed rights. I applaud your contribution to the education of our young people through the Newspaper in Education program."
